With one of the country’s largest real estate portfolios—ranging from train stations and retail spaces to residential properties—SBB Real Estate faced a major challenge: migrating over 545,000 objects from SAP R/3 and external systems to SAP S/4HANA. This ambitious project required strict standards for data accuracy, consistency, and performance. The key to success was the COS 33 solutions: CS 340 - S/4HANA migration cockpit RE-FX and CS 305 - RE-FX master data mass processing.
Initial situation
Over the years, the SAP R/3 environment had accumulated complex structures and redundant datasets. The transition to SAP S/4HANA was therefore not just a technical migration but a Greenfield consolidation of all real estate data into RE-FX.
The challenge: migrate 300,000 objects from SAP R/3 and integrate another 245,000 from external systems – while ensuring complete transparency, auditability, and minimal manual work.
Solution: COS-33 in action
CS 340 – S/4HANA Migration Cockpit RE-FXAt the heart of the Greenfield project, the CS 340 Cockpit played a decisive role. It enabled the structured, transparent, and audit-proof transfer of over 300,000 objects from SAP R/3 to S/4HANA.
Through integrated simulation, transformation, and logging features, every step of the migration was traceable and fully documented:
Detailed mapping rules ensured accurate, real-time data transfer
Successful conversion of areas, rental and deposit agreements, and partner roles
Streamlined the cleanup of redundant organisational units
Seamless integration of custom tables and fields
A complete audit trail for maximum data security and transparency
With CS 305, approximately 245,000 objects from third-party systems were newly created in SAP RE-FX within a short time. Standardised templates and integrated upload functions ensured fast, consistent, and reliable data processing — key enablers for the Greenfield setup.
Result
The Greenfield migration to SAP S/4HANA has been a complete success, characterized by efficiency, transparency, and full audibility.
